- Do I need an exact birth time?
- Planets in signs work from the date. Rising sign, houses, and a trustworthy Dasha clock need time and place. Unknown time is fine — we omit angles rather than inventing noon.
- Western or Vedic?
- Both. Tropical for the psychological layer; sidereal (Lahiri) for Nakshatra and Dasha. Same Swiss Ephemeris engine.

What a natal chart actually records
A birth chart is a snapshot of the planets against the zodiac at your birth moment and place. The Sun describes orientation. The Moon describes need. The Ascendant and houses describe how that sky sits in a life — body, money, partnership, work — but only if the clock is honest.
Swami uses Swiss Ephemeris for positions, tropical zodiac for the Western layer, and Lahiri ayanamsa for the Vedic layer. Whole Sign houses. When time is unknown, planets in signs still stand; rising and houses are omitted rather than invented from noon.
Portrait first, atlas second
Most chart PDFs open with a wheel and a table. That is backwards for a human being. The Portrait answers life questions first: signature patterns, how you love and work, the growth edge, the chapter you are in. The technical atlas comes after so you can verify the math.

Western and Vedic in one file
Western tropical work is strong on psychology and personality. Vedic sidereal work is strong on Nakshatra and Vimshottari Dasha timing. They disagree on signs by about 24° right now. That is precession, not a bug.
